Government Contract Registration: It’s Free & Effortless

Did you know that the first step in pursuing government contracts does not require any influential reference of any backdoor policy? All it takes you to do register with SAM or System for Award Management (SAM), the federal government’s vendor database. Some federal agencies – such as FEMA – have their own databases as well. However, the businesses that come with special certifications, such as 8a, Woman-owned, Veteran-owned and/or HubZone, can find it easy to register with SAM.

Beware of the Profit assistance Providers

However, there’s a plethora of profit assistance providers who primarily targets small businesses, preferably new in this field about the government registration and certification processes. First of all they charge a lump sum amount in the name of SAM registration. They fake marketing their services with official-sounding emails, professional approach but all these are actually aimed for conning you. To register with SAMyou most likely need not pay any fee, let alone the hefty fee, of course. However, the commercial websites need to pay a small fee to register with the government agencies and being a part of the federal business premises.. By contrast, government websites (designated as .gov) offer free advice and registration.

Keep in mind, there is no fee charged to register as a government contractor. On the contrary, there is free and low-cost help available to get you through the process.

The Scene with Commercial Enterprises

Some commercial enterprises make commercial enterprises a soft target, before starting up the government registration process. If you want to register with SAM and other vendor databases, make sure that this is actually public. When profit providers try to get contact information as soon as they enter your details, they get a message like “Your registration is not complete.” which is pretty much like federal notice. Whenever any small business clicks the link – or calls the number provided – they are prompted to sign-up for assistance, usually at a cost of hundreds of dollars.

Avoid the Aggressive Advertisements

Often the commercial companies run aggressive ad campaigns soliciting vendors to fill out a “FEMA Contract Registration Form.” Once the form was filled out and submitted on-line, applicants received the following message: “Thank you for submitting your information. We will be in contact with you shortly. At the same time, there’s another message saying Please pay $500.00 for this service.” As soon as you click that button, you are redirected to pay $500.00 via a PayPal account for “FEMA Registration.” These commercial organizations essentially target the veteran business owners, who are hardly in a state of mind or health to identify the fraudulent activities.

But, in reality, there’s no such standard rule that says to register with SAM, you have to pay a hefty price tag.
